General brief for Central Regeneration Plan in the City of York

Start at the apex in the West where the Foss meets the River Ouse.. with its proposed refreshment kiosk and linear Waterside Park leading into the area surrounding Clifford Tower; historically & Architecturally very sensitive, with a major site allocated for the design of a Hotel and National Conference Centre... moving on via Castlegate into an undeveloped open area with the design of a Town Park and a mix of Retail Shops & Offices leading on to Coppergate… and then up into Parliament Street for the creation of a Day Market Place in a general pedestrianised area.

Once the site of a classic ‘Fawlty Towers’ hotel which has now been replaced by an internationally famous Hotel overlooking the ‘Doombar’ on the North Cornwall Atlantic Coast..

The Hotel has a contemporary Art Deco style which John has reflected in the Landscape Plan. He worked with his colleague MIke Nelhams (Tresco Abbey Gardens) to ensure that the planting would survive the North coast winter storms.
